Braces and Halloween don’t always go together. In fact, they usually don’t go together at all. The constant restrictions of wearing brackets and wires on your teeth aren’t fun, especially on October 31. Invisalign braces, however, make sure your Halloween traditions aren’t interrupted by dental rules. Find out just some of the perks of being an Invisalign-wearer on Halloween.
You hate it when other people make decisions for you. If you’re sporting metal braces, folks may think you can’t handle any of the good stuff. With Invisalign, no one will know that there’s something going on with your teeth – except they’re starting to look better and better.
You can say yes to whatever candy people are dishing out, whether at the office, on the trick-or-treat trail, at school, or anywhere that is popping with Halloween festivities.
Invisalign won’t prevent you from digging into any chewy, gummy, sticky, or hard candies. You remove your aligners to eat and the same goes for snacking on sweets. Just remember to always clean your teeth after going sweet.
When you have Invisalign braces it’s even more important for you to brush, floss, and rinse your teeth. You don’t want candy particles, sugars, or bacteria to get stuck between your snug-fitting aligners and tooth enamel. This is a sure way to overexpose your teeth to bacteria and create a danger zone for cavities to develop.
Invisalign braces need to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. Even if you are tempted to dig into all the Halloween candy you love, you’ll be able to hold yourself back for the sake of your aligners (or your waistline) because you can’t eat while wearing Invisalign.
So, you have a choice: Take out your aligners every time you want to snack on a piece of candy, or be patient and have some candy after a meal (or instead of a meal, if you have that big of a sweet tooth).
If you have the wrong shoes, hair, makeup, or accessories, the authenticity of your Halloween costume can be seriously compromised. Invisalign doesn’t get in the way of any look, no matter how cute or creepy. Because the aligners are nearly invisible on your teeth, no one will ever know you’re sporting braces. (Just be sure to ask your Haymarket dentist about the dos and don’ts of wearing fake fangs if you insist on being Dracula or someone from his family.)
Have you been resigned to wearing fake fangs for Halloween because your slick costume would never gel with your crooked teeth? You don’t have to hide anymore! Invisalign begins straightening teeth immediately and continues to align a few teeth at a time until your entire smile is in alignment. It’s a treat, not a trick, and you can enjoy the perks of Invisalign on October 31 and every day of the year.
