The Invisalign brand may sound like one product that offers one thing, but there is a continuity among all types of Invisalign treatments. There are several unique methods for straightening teeth that fall under the Invisalign umbrella. And one of them may just be right for you.
Before you can consider Invisalign treatment options, your Haymarket Invisalign provider first needs to determine whether you are a good candidate for Invisalign. A full evaluation will be conducted, including a dental exam to ensure that your oral health is in good shape. Impressions and scans will be taken as well to consider the position of your teeth now and where they need to move.
Unless an orthodontic case is incredibly complex, Invisalign is a cosmetic dentistry treatment that can correct pretty much everything that braces correct – overbites, underbites, crossbites, open bites, crowded teeth, and gapped teeth. Your perfect smile is within reach thanks to an incredibly discreet alignment method.
Invisalign Full, also known as Invisalign Complete, is the most common and well-known of all Invisalign treatments. In this course of care, aligners are worn on both top and bottom teeth. The average case takes about 12 months to complete but could take up to 18 months. Every candidate is different, and your treatment plan will match the complexity of your case.
Invisalign Lite is just like Invisalign Complete, but the treatment time is shorter and the goal is to correct only minor orthodontic problems. If you have spaces or mild to moderate overcrowding, for example, your dentist may recommend the Lite version. Approximately 14 aligner trays are worn through this treatment, which translates to about six months, give or take.
Some patients choose Invisalign Lite to correct very miniscule alignment problems, or to get their teeth in complete alignment before undergoing another cosmetic dentistry treatment, like teeth whitening or porcelain veneers.
Similar to Invisalign Lite, Invisalign Express is designed for people who have minor alignment issues to correct. If you have a mild relapse from previous orthodontic treatment or have minor spacing issues, the Express treatment can correct the problem in usually five to 10 sets of aligners, which lasts between three and six months. While Invisalign is easy enough to put into play when you slacked on prior orthodontics, folks who qualify for this treatment have learned a valuable lesson – when your dentist says to wear your retainers, wear your retainers, even after Invisalign.
While plenty of adults flock to Invisalign because it is discreet and easy to adapt to your lifestyle, the biggest demographic for braces – teenagers – can also enjoy this alignment method. Invisalign Teen is specially designed for the adolescent crowd. The aligners include compliance indicator dots so your dentist knows the aligners are being worn as often as they’re supposed to be. The aligners are also designed to leave room for any still-erupting teeth, while also improving both the appearance of bite and chin.
